WQED Filmmakers Workshops

We are proud to offer a variety of workshops throughout the year at our WQED studio in Oakland. Provided by experienced teachers and experts in their field, workshops are offered individually and as packaged series at a discount. WQED Filmmakers Workshops are designed for everyone, from the novice to the seasoned professional. Students can choose to attend a single workshop at an a la carte price or purchase a series pass at a reduced rate.

Instructor

Darin DiNapoli is an Emmy Award winning director/editor/producer/motion graphics artist with 17 years of professional experience in the advertising/film & video industry. Other notable achievements include being named a 2022 Emerging Artist at the Three Rivers Arts Festival, winning Best Film at the 2014 Pittsburgh 48 Hour Horror Film Festival, Producing nine 48 Hour Films over the course of 3 years (one in Los Angeles which made it to the top 10 out of 300 teams and screened at the Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard), and winning an Adfed award aka a Gold Addy award.

INTRO TO 360 VIDEO PRODUCTION

An introductory course that provides the foundational elements and techniques utilized in producing 360 video content. We will explore best practices for filmmaking, capturing photos/video utilizing the Insta360 ONE X2 camera, and using a smartphone to edit a short video for distribution. Students will be able to leave this class with a general knowledge of how to kickstart their 360 video content productions!

360 VIDEO PRODUCTION: ADVANCED CAMERA AND FILMMAKING PRODUCTION

 

This course will dive deeper into 360 video production, and teach students more advanced camera operation techniques. This course will provide more of an in depth look at the professional end of 360 cameras (Ricoh Theta X, Insta360 Sphere for drones and Insta 360 Pro) and audio capture techniques to produce a more sophisticated final product. We will also briefly look at a few unique capture methods to produce exciting camera effects for standard filmmaking. Students will leave this class with a better understanding of operating various 360 cameras and how to produce based on their production needs.

360 VIDEO PRODUCTION: EDITING YOUR 360 VIDEO

This course will explore the final stages of stitching your 360 footage and then learning how to edit using Insta360 Studio Software/Adobe Premiere. Students will learn all of the techniques of how to edit their footage and prepare it for distribution (360 VR headset, YouTube, etc). The course will also explore other editing techniques of 360 footage that can be utilized in standard video productions.
